Wessex Water is planning a major investment of almost £200,000 to reinforce water mains in Milborne Port.

This project will involve adding more capacity to the network, including replacing sections of the ageing main with new plastic pipes, to ensure you have improved water quality and a more reliable supply.

Taking place in several phases in the village, this work will start on Monday 29 January 2024 and we expect it to be completed by Friday 17 May 2024.

How will the work affect you?

A map is included with this letter to outline where and when we will be carrying out this main replacement in the village.

  • Monday 29 January – Friday 1 March 2024 Wick Road will be closed to through traffic with a signposted diversion in place.
  • Monday 4 March – Friday 22 March 2024 – Higher Kingsbury will be closed to through traffic with a signposted diversion in place.
  • Monday 25 March – Friday 3 May 2024 – West Hill and Cold Harbour will be closed to through traffic with a signposted diversion in place. There will be a temporary removal of the one-way system on Popes Lane to allow access for properties in Popes Lane only.
  • Tuesday 7 May – Friday 17 May 2024 – North Street will be closed to through traffic with a signposted diversion in place.

We are asking the local community to help support us to finish this project safely and quickly by avoiding parking their cars within the areas in which we are working.

Access will be maintained for residents within these closures, but it may be delayed at times. Our on-site team will be able to deal with any specific access requirements.

In addition, a Wessex Water compound will be in place just off Court Lane for the duration of this project.

There may be times where your water supply is turned off while we complete this essential work, but we will give you at least 48 hours’ notice if your water will be off for longer than one hour.

What should you do?

You don’t need to do anything. For security reasons, we will install an alarm system at our construction compound. If the alarm goes off when the site is unoccupied, or if you have any further questions about our work, please call 0345 600 4 600 or visit wessexwater.co.uk/contact-us

If you are a business or other non-household property you will need to contact your water retailer with any enquiries. You can find their contact details on your most recent water bill.

Need some extra support?

We know that some customers need extra help due to age, ill health, a disability, mental illness or additional needs. This may include easy access to water during a leak or outage, help reading your meter, or setting up a password for when we visit. You can register for Priority Services on our website at wessexwater.co.uk/priorityservices or call us on 0345 600 4 600

We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused by our work.
