News from the Council Chamber - July 2017

Our Clerk has beaten your correspondent this month as the draft minutes are already up on this website. However, there are still some items worth highlighting from the meeting which took place on Tuesday 4th July.

South West in Bloom

The South West in Bloom competition is getting closer, with judging being on 12th July starting at 1400hrs at the cemetery chapel. The council wish to thank all residents who have made an effort this year to keep our village looking smart.

Overgrown Paths

One resident reported the problem of overgrown verges and pathways. These have been reported to county, who are the responsible party for this maintenance, but it is great to have these issues drawn to council's attention so that we can hold county to account. If you are aware of areas of pathways or footpaths needing attention, please do report to our clerk.

Upgrade to Gainsborough Play Equipment

Council agreed to replace the swing set at the Gainsborough playground. This will include one swing especially suited to children with a disability. The safety matting will also be renewed.

Barber Retires

After many years serving the community, the barber who operated from the town hall is retiring. This means that there will soon be no Wednesday barber service there and this room will be available for others to hire.

Crackmore bus shelter

We have previously reported on the community news page, but the children from Gryphon school with the help of children from our primary school have done a magnificent job of renovating the Crackmore bus shelter. You can see some images of the work on the galleries page.
