Cricket clubhave a successful jumble sale

new-cricketThe cricket club would like to thank all those who helped, donated to and supported our jumble sale. They raised  £572.00. The cricket season for us begins in May, weather permitting, and the following fixtures are planned:

Sunday 13th May: away to Compton House
Sunday 20th May: away to Horningsham,
Saturday 26th May: friendly against Stalbridge Linen
Sunday 27th May: home to Yeovil.

We would also like to thank the following businesses that have once again sponsored an advert on our fixtures card: Milborne Port Newsagents, Milborne Port Computers, Sports & Social Club, Wincanton Print, Something Else Fishy, Serene Dreams, BWP Private Hire, Stalbridge Linen, Wayne Pullen Butchers, Ian Pomeroy, Waterways. They are local businesses so please support them.

Make a bee line for the gardening club

GardeningAt our April meeting we had a talk about keeping honey bees and gardening for pollinating insects. There is an active group of Community Bee Keepers which manages a small apiary in the village and is always keen to welcome new members or just interested visitors (protective clothing can be loaned for viewing activity). Members of the group explained how the project was started (with help of a grant from South Somerset Council), how a hive is assembled, where the bees live and honey is stored, and the work of the keepers in maintaining the hive
