Friends of Milborne Port Library (FOMPL) - September 2018

Black FOMPL logo002Jill Spring writes; as I sit down to write this month’s report it is one of those still, humid, colourless August days which remind me of a phrase in Rosamond Lehmann’s book, The Weather in the Streets, where she describes August as ‘the sinister pause in the year’. For me that absolutely sums up this time of year.

It’s been a busy month in the Library with sixty three children signed up to take part in the Summer Reading Challenge.

Do you sew, knit, wood turn, keep bees or model trains, bell ring, paint, do photography, garden, play the spoons, play football, collect stamps………? Whatever, your hobby or special talent, we would love to celebrate it and see what you do. We have plenty of display space. If you want to come and see the talents on display, there will be a Pop up coffee shop at 10:30 with Hymns and Pimms at 4:30pm

Canadian Solar donation to Milborne Port

town hallMilborne Port Parish Council is pleased to announce that Canadian Solar UK Projects Ltd (owners of the Milborne Port solar farm) have made a community benefit donation to Milborne Port Parish Council. Milborne Port Parish Council will announce at a later date, on which village enhancement project these monies will be spent.

Canadian Solarcomments that it continues in its restless efforts of boosting the social responsibility profile of any portfolio supporting local communities with their needs and advancing solar solutions that enable sustainable development worldwide.

If any residents wish to make suggestions of how this donation should be spent for the benefit of the village, these should be submitted to the Parish Clerk, Mrs. Emma Curtis.
