Friends of Milborne Port Library (FOMPL) NOVEMBER 2018

hullabaloo blueMembers of the Library Reading Group are sorry to say goodbye to Paula Nussey and Bill Deakin, who have moved out of the area. Paula and Bill were Founder members of the Reading Group some 17 years ago and have always made a very lively and thought provoking contribution to the discussions.  They were also very active in the Hullaballoo Campaign against the proposed closure of the Library in 2011.

Quiz Night

quiz squiggleSt John’s Church will be holding a Quiz Night on Saturday 24th November at Milborne Port Village Hall. Doors open at 7 p.m. for a 7.30 start. Tickets £10 are available from Wayne’s, include a Fish and Chip Supper from Something Else Fishy. Bring your own drinks and cutlery. Table teams of six to eight please

poppyOn Tuesday 6th November at 6pm the bell ringers of St John's will commemorate the life of :
William MERRITT died 06.11.1918
Royal Garrison Artillery

Although at the time of his death, Gunner Merritt was with the RGA, at the outbreak of war he was a Regular or Reservist with the Queen's Own Dorset Yeomanry and was at the Front at Christmas 1914. We have no details of when he transferred to the RGA or in which battles he saw action.

Christmas Fayre

village hallThe village hall are holding a Christmas Fayre on Saturday 24th November 10am – 4pm, with a raffle – to be drawn at 3pm There will be Children’s New Toys from Hooks of Bridgewater, Local Produce, Handmade Crafts, Jewellery & Soft Toys, Stocking Filler Ideas & Christmas Gifts, Mulled Wine & Mince Pies Served Warm. Teas, Coffees & Cakes to be found in the Camelot Room and a children’s photographer (Pre-Book to Avoid Disappointment). Further details, click here
