Heritage LogoOur Annual General Meeting was well attended with lively discussions taking place and many suggestions being made for the coming year.

The Somerset Vernacular Building Research Group will be presenting research done on an important mediaeval building which they have recently identified in our village.

WI looking forward to 2019

WI logoChristine Porter writes; we had a really enjoyable last meeting of the 2018 in December when we had our usual delicious Fish & Chips supplied by Something Else Fishy, followed by mince pies and mints and washed down with wine! After we'd wined and dined our speaker, David Sutcliffe, gave us an illustrated talk on the history of Christmas carols and other seasonal traditions.  I think we were all surprised that several of our well-known traditional hymns were written by Americans.

Friends of Milborne Port Library (FOMPL) - January 2019

hullabaloo blueHappy New Year everyone! New beginnings all round and not least for Milborne Port Library. The Friends are continuing to work closely with Somerset County Council and our very supportive Parish Council to develop a Community Library Partnership (CLP). We have until the end of March 2019 to sort out the practical details, which will almost certainly involve a change of premises.
