Gardening Club planning for 2019

GardeningThe Gardening Club would like to wish all gardening enthusiasts a Happy New Year and good gardening conditions during 2019.

January starts our new 2019 programme of interesting talks including topics such as garden design, the development of the Bishop’s Palace Gardens at Wells, and woodland, meadow and high peak plants.

Paul Stickland, who many of you may know runs the lovely Black Shed Cut Flowers on the Sherborne Road, will tell us about developing this cut flower business. In addition to the talks we have some interesting garden visits planned, a tea party in a member’s pretty cottage garden and a 70th Anniversary Party in Church House in October.

Another highlight of our year will be held on Tuesday September 17th when the club will host a larger meeting in the Main Village Hall, to include other local gardening clubs, to hear a talk by Alan Power, Head Gardener at Stourhead. Alan is a very accomplished speaker and has made a number of appearances both on TV and radio. This meeting will start with refreshments at 6.45pm to give keen gardeners time to mingle!

To enjoy all, or any of these activities, you simply need to join the club. The 2019 subscription is only £12.00 and this also includes frequent offers of 25% discount shopping at Castle Gardens. To join simply come along to either of our meeting on Tuesday, January 8th or Tuesday, February 12th: Meetings are held in The Camelot Room at the Village Hall and start at 7.30pm. Fuller details of our programme can be found in this link and the individual meetings will be put on the diary in due course.
