Hilarity at the October WI

WI logoThere was much laughter at our October meeting when the speaker, Michael Malaghan, gave us a talk entitled 'Can You Hear Me at the Back'.   He is a local author who has spent many hours giving talks at WIs and other societies and has the habit of making the most mundane things sound amusing. It was his second visit to us in three years which proves how popular he was the first time.   After the Business part of the meeting we indulged in a light-hearted game of 'Give us a Clue' which caused more laughter.   We had a good turn out of almost 30 members, in spite of the went and windy evening.

At the end of September five members attended the Group Social at Horsington where we were entertained by a singer/songwrite who now lives in Sherborne. This was followed by the usual excellent cold buffet and various cakes and desserts.

In order to work off some of the calories put on by the above mentioned cakes, we are going to be walking round the village on the first and third Wednesday of the month as the walk we did last month proved popular, as did the skittles and bowling which we took part in during the Activity Week.

By the time you read this, there may be a few spaces left on the coach to Exeter on Thursday, 29th November, although the seats are filling up fast.   The cost is £13 and please phone Hazel (251428) or Janet (250844) if you are interested in coming with us.

I would like to give a huge Thank You to all who came to our MacMillan Coffee Morning in September and those who were unable to attend but donated. This was organised by Maureen Lock who made a record sum of £750 for this worthy cause so thank you very much for your generosity.

Our next meeting is on Thursday 8th November when our speaker will be from 'Yeovil Freewheelers'.   In the meantime, do please call in to our WI Room during our coffee mornings on Friday from 10.30am when we serve hot drinks, biscuits and usually a cake - everyone is welcome.
