Come and strut your stuff with MPO in “Anything Goes”

facebook-anything-goesMilborne Port Opera are expanding their range – again(!) with a new production of Cole Porter’s “Anything Goes”. “Anything Goes” is set on a transatlantic liner in the 1930s. The passengers are the usual crowd of celebs, aristocrats, bankers, evangelists, gamblers and gangsters. The plot involves love triangles, misunderstandings, mistaken identities and subterfuge, punctuated by some great musical numbers.

The show will be staged the week after Easter 2019, but rehearsals start on Thursday September 6th, in the Milborne Port Primary School.

The company is happy to welcome new members. It helps if you can sing, act a bit and even dance, and you will be given all the help you need to turn in a shining performance. The commitment is just one night a week, plus a couple of Sunday afternoons in the winter. The first few weeks are spent familiarising with the music and experimenting with roles. Auditions are on October 4th. These are informal open auditions in front of the cast and production team.

There are plenty of supporting and chorus roles if you’re just dipping your toe in the water. Milborne Port Opera is a highly successful, award-winning, amateur company. Its shows generally play to packed houses. The company was formed in 1989 and has been going strong ever since.

Interested? Just turn up on September 6th at the Milborne Port Primary School.
