WI plan for AGM

WI logoA few of our members weren't able to attend our April meeting which was a pity as the speaker was very interesting indeed. She talked about her visits to Spitzbergen and the Arctic Circle and showed slides of snow capped fjords, polar bears, walruses etc.   It was obvious we were fascinated as we were sorry when her talk came to an end and we hope to book her again next year.   After our refreshment break and business matters, we had a geography quiz which was won by Jenny Hill.

Next month is our AGM when the committee will be reelected and the year reported on.   It has been a busy year and our main project was the refurbishment of the bus shelter at Crackmore, with the help of both our Primary the and Gryphon Schools. This year we will be putting flowers in our planters in and around the Weighbridge with a purple, green and white theme to commemorate 100 years since the Women's Suffrage Movement was successful in obtaining votes for (some) women.

We will also be discussing this year's WI Resolution which is on Mental Health.   After the serious business of the evening, we will be having a Beetle Drive which will probably prove quite amusing.   This will take place on May 10th at 7.30pm in the WI Room in the Town Hall.

In the meantime, please call in any Friday morning when we open our room at 10.30am to serve coffees, teas and cakes at a very modest price.
