Milborne Port Pottery

Heritage LogoYou will see on the Heritage pages, that the next meeting will be on Monday 16th April, 7.30, Church House, Bathwell Lane, Milborne Port. The William Barnes Society will be presenting an evening of Music, Poetry and Humour along with a Quiz to test your knowledge of the Dorset Dialect. Several of us have seen the Society in action and it promises to be a very entertaining and amusing evening.

The group are also searching for information, as the History Group have recently purchased a pot from Ebay made by H. Wright in Milborne Port Pottery with Milborne Port Pottery stamped to the underside.

She was a 1950's potter who had a studio, complete with kiln, in South Street in a room behind the arched doorway, once an entrance to the grounds of Ven House. Little seems to be known about her but if you have any information regarding her christian name, married name, life and/or relatives who may still be living locally we would love to hear from you. Apparently she married and left the village but died young. Please do email us on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  We will be displaying the pot in the museum at our next open afternoon, Sunday 6th May, 2.30 - 4 pm.
