WI talk of celebrations and outings

WI logoMarch has been a very social time for us, starting with our Annual Dinner in Church House at the beginning of the month. We had our usual caterer who produced a superb meal enjoyed by everyone, washed down with glasses of wine.   There were quizzes to keep our brains working while we ate and drank and the tables were decorated with spring flowers. We felt blessed that our meeting wasn't in the first week of March when it would have been unlikely to take place due to the heavy snow.

The following week four of us were invited to Thornford W.I. to help them celebrate their 70th birthday (our institute is 86 this year!).  A lady gave an interesting talk of labyrinths and showed slides of those she had visited. Afterwards we helped ourselves to their delicious buffet supper.   The following day was our theatre trip to see the play 'Quartet' at Salisbury Playhouse.   This coincided with the visit from Teresa May and some of us were fortunate to chat to her!

Talking of outings, we still have some places left on the coach for our trip to the British Legion Poppy Factory at Richmond which includes a guided tour on Monday, 23rd April.   The cost for this is £25 which includes a donation to the British Legion and I feel sure it will be a very interesting day.   We will be leaving soon after 8.30am to give us time to enjoy a lunch in Richmond before going to the factory.   If you would like to join us please contact Hazel on 251428 or Janet on 250844, or pop into the WI Room any Friday morning and sign the list.

Our meeting in April is on Thursday 12th at 7.30pm in the old Town Hall when we will be having a talk of 'Spitzbergen and the High Arctic'.   Do please come along if you are interested in this, or would like to join us - we hope we are a friendly bunch!   In the meantime, don't forget our room is open to the village and visitors for serving coffee etc. every Friday morning from 10.30am.
