On Monday April 16th at 7.30 in Church House, Bathwell Lane the William Barnes Society will entertain us to an evening of poetry, music and humour. There will also be a quiz to test your knowledge of the Dorset Dialect which as far as I can tell is very similar to the Somerset Dialect so don't be put off.

We will be guiding our first long walk on Bank Holiday Monday May28th. This is a long walk following the old drove road from Milborne Port to Whitcombe Mediaeval Village and continuing to South Cadbury. Maps of our route will be available at our meeting on Monday 21st May when Jeremy Barker is giving an illustrated talk on the archaeology at South Cadbury Castle

Our Oral History project is progressing with the focus on school experiences in the village going back as far as memories can take us. We need help from any one who remembers these childhood days and would like to share them with us. We are using the donation from the Spirit of Milborne Port to purchase equipment to make recordings, transcribe them to disks which can then be played in the museum.
