Moviola - The Audience

The AudienceOn Saturday 9th December 2017 at 7.30 p.m. (doors open at 7.00pm) in the Milborne Port Village Hall. Experience the environment that you would get if you had travelled to the West End Theatre in London! We present a recording of a live performance of The Audience (certificate PG), starring the amazing Helen Mirren as she reprises her Academy Award winning role as Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II.

For sixty years, the Queen has met each of her twelve Prime Ministers in a weekly audience at Buckingham Palace: a meeting like no other in British public life - it is private. From Churchill to Cameron, each Prime Minister has used these private conversations as a sounding board and a confessional- sometimes intimate, sometimes explosive. Both of the parties to the Audience have an unspoken agreement never to repeat what is said, not even to their spouses.

The Audience breaks this contract of silence and imagines a series of pivotal meetings between Her Majesty and the Downing Street incumbents.  Each Politician will come and go through the revolving door that is politics; Her Majesty always remaining the constant, waiting to welcome her next Prime Minister. This stage production also features Edward Fox (as Winston Churchill), Rufus Wright (David Cameron), Richard McCabe (Harold Wilson), just some of Her Prime Ministers!.As part of this National Theatre Live presentation, we will be showing support material for the stage production as well as an on-screen Question & Answer session at the end of the performance. Tickets are on sale NOW from Wayne Pullen, Butcher, of Milborne Port, at the usual Moviola prices (£5.50 and £5.00, no concessions). The performance starts at 1930, and is expected to finish at approximately 22:20.
