Salisbury 800 Stonemasons Talk

Salisbury in ruins “Tradition is not the worship of ashes, but the preservation of fire.”

Over the past three decades, Andrew Ziminski has worked as Stonemason and Conservator in Salisbury and Wiltshire. By examining projects he has undertaken in and around Salisbury – including at the Cathedral, the ruins of Clarendon Palace and many local churches and bridges – Andrew will illuminate the power of craft skills and the use of traditional materials that are both beautiful and sustainable. Andrew will investigate how cities, including Salisbury,  can be guided by the past to meet the challenges of the future.

This is a fascinating talk by a local Stonemason and we hope that you will enjoy it.

Social History Project

This is beginning to create a large amount of interest and another local family has come forward and their family is now being investigated, who knows what Howard will uncover this time! Please do consider letting him research your family ties with the village, if you are unsure as to what this will involve, please do contact us via this email address and someone will contact you. We have also received some lovely family stories, we will look at the best way of recording them and making them available for you to read.

Summer Museum Opening

It is quite clear that due to the Coronavirus Pandemic we will not be able to open the Museum on Sunday afternoons during the summer but we are more than happy to open the museum up from 12th July for an individual or family group visit.  The museum will be cleaned after each visit. There is no charge but a donation would be appreciated

If you would like to book a visit please contact Lesley on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Attached is a poster giving more details.

Summer Newsletter

We are also in the process of producing our second newsletter which should be on it's way to you during July. If you have any interesting, amusing village stories please do send them in to us so that we can use them in the newsletter at some point.

2021 History Group Programme of Talks

It is difficult to believe that we are nearly half way through 2020 already but we have to put our minds to 2021 so we would be grateful to receive ideas for speakers and if you have a particular interest in a specific part of village history, do let us know and we will attempt to find a speaker to cover that subject.

As soon as we are able to restart our talks safely we will let you know.
