WI prepare for Christmas

WI logoChristine Port writes; December will be the usual busy and festive time for us, starting with the Group Carol Service taking place at North Cheriton at the beginning of the month.  This will prepare us for the Somerset WI Carol Service taking place in the beautiful cathedral on 11th December.   This is always an event I enjoy attending, especially as we arrive in time to have a look round the market and shops before having lunch.  The cathedral is always packed with WI members from the whole of Somerset.

Everyone enjoyed our meeting in November when we entertained ourselves with our version of the television comedy panel show 'Would I Lie to You'.   Six of us told everyone stories of our life which may or not have been true and the teams had to decide if they believed our story or not.    I was particularly pleased as all the teams decided my story was true when it was, in fact, a lie!   We indulged in a glass of wine which gave it more of a party atmosphere.   Unfortunately, Jan (our president) was unable to attend so Janet (vice president) advised members of the various forthcoming events.   She also asked for ideas about decorating our Christmas tree which will be in our church for the last weekend of November, following the Lights Switch On, so I hope you have had an opportunity to view this, as well as all the other beautifully decorated trees. which the Spirit of Milborne Port has kindly supplied.

Our meeting in December is for paid-up members only and is when we have our delicious fish & chip supper, followed by mince pies, and accompanied by wine or other drink.   We also have Bonny Sartin entertaining us with 'The Musical Heritage of Thomas Hardy'.

In the meantime, do please come into our room any Friday morning from 10.30am and enjoy a warm drink, piece of cake, and chat with other villagers.
