Friends of Milborne Port Library (F19) – October 2019

hullabaloo blueSeptember and October have been busy for the Library Trustees, as we started to get used to the Library being in a vehicle which relies on machinery. Quite a few issues had to be overcome, ensuring the library staff can get in and out of the vehicle safely, all year, day and night, ensuring the public door opens and shuts, ensuring we have mains electricity to keep the lights on and computers running, and that staff have phone connections. We are working our way through these issues and hope you haven't been affected.

Winter has been anticipated, surprisingly, and we hope the library vehicle will be warm and welcoming on those cold windy rainy days. The staff may keep the door closed during colder weather but please don’t let that put you off visiting them!

We are continuing to work on ironing out various day to day running issues, including wheelchair access. If you have any concerns about this please contact Library staff.

The Christmas Tree lights switch-on ceremony will take place on 29 November 2019 and the library will be joining in the christmas tree festival, taking place in the church between 29/11/19 and 02/12/10. The theme for our tree is ‘Our Library’. We are hoping to give our loyal borrowers a chance to name their favourite book or book character. Please pop into the Jolly Book Bus from Saturday 2 November to pick up your tag and to find out more.

Currently the Library is working with Café Pineapple on a ‘Loyalty Scheme’. If you visit the Library you will be given a little card which will give you discount at Café Pineapple (just across the road)) – definitely worth checking out!

And finally, a huge thank you to the library staff and the friends of the library, who have all worked so hard to sort out all the teething problems and make our library safe and accessible.
