WI planning Christmas shopping trip

WI logoChristine Porter writes; our September meeting was well attended, with two new ladies who we hope will become members in due course.  It was a lively evening and the talk was on Dream Interpretation during which the speaker explained what some of our dreams meant and how we could benefit from interpreting them.

There were quite a few questions asked afterwards and she did her best to answer them before we had our coffee break.  After this Janet had prepared a quiz, which got our brains working as it certainly wasn't easy.   It was so hard that several members tried doing it as a team and even then didn't score very highly!

You will have noticed elsewhere on this site, that Sarah is holding a Pumpkin Festival in the church on 26th October.  The WI will be organizing and judging the pumpkin pies & cakes.   Please look out for posters around the village or the village website for further details regarding this.   We look forward to receiving your entrants in the Church on the 26th.

Some of us enjoyed the annual game of croquet organised by Henstridge WI earlier this month.   Unfortunately, we didn't bring home a prize this year although Sue, one of our members, came a very close second.

Our Christmas shopping trip to Exeter is now taking place on Thursday 28th November by which time the Christmas markets should be outside the Cathedral to add to the atmosphere.   If you don't need to do any shopping, Exeter is still a very good place to walk around and have a good lunch (and tea) anyway.   If you would like to join us in the coach for that day please contact Janet (250844) or Hazel (251428) or call in to our room any Friday morning when we are open for coffees etc.

Our next monthly meeting will be on 10th October at 7.30pm in the WI Room at the old Town Hall when Adelaide Brown will be playing tunes from 'Showtime'. and I look forward to seeing members and guests there.
