WI muse the passing of summer

WI logoWell, it seems incredible that we have had our late Summer Social  - the year is going by so quickly.   We held it in Church House and, unfortunately, the inclement weather meant we couldn't take advantage of their lovely garden. This is one occasion when husbands/partners are also invited along and, judging by laughter in the room, a good time was had by all.  Jan, our president, devised a picture quiz - she had certainly been busy taking photos around the village beforehand and it kept us entertained before indulging in the delicious food provided.

At the end of July, we fielded two teams in the first round of the County Quiz at Henstridge. I'm pleased to say, one team came second and the other fourth. Here's hoping we win next year. Henstridge will be hosting their usual Croquet and Cream tea afternoon in September to which quite a few of us usually go.

MacmillanA couple of advance notices.  Firstly, our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning will take place on 27th September when we hope to raise as much money as possible for this very worthy cause.  I don't like to mention Christmas while we still hope to enjoy some summer weather, but we will be organizing our shopping trip to Exeter on 22nd November - details to follow.

Our next meeting takes place on 12th September when the talk is entitled Dream Interpretation' which should be fascinating. Please do come along to our meeting in the old Town Hall, if you would like to give us a try. There is no obligation to join as we welcome  visitors for a modest cost to cover coffee etc. and we hope you enjoy our meeting so much that you do become a member.  In the meantime, please join us any Friday morning from 10.30 a.m. when we serve tea and coffee to villagers and visitors.
