An opportunity to hear about the Stourhead estate

GardeningMilborne Port and Charlton Horethorne & District Garden Clubs are to host a talk on Stourhead, by Alan Power, Garden and Estates Manager at Stourhead.

A date for your diary – an opportunity not to be missed, on Tuesday 17th September at 6.45 p.m. in the Village Hall, Tickets £7.50.   Glass of wine to start and there will be a Raffle.

StourheadAlan Power, Garden and Estate Manager, cares for Stourhead’s 2650 acres with the help of about five full time gardeners, two full time rangers and a team of over 30 volunteers.

His work has to allow for the sharing of the qualities of the estate with all the visitors, whist at the same time protecting them for present and future generations. He has to look at ways of changing things as required, but in a way which conserves the environment we all appreciate. It is often families who grow up visiting Stourhead, who take their children on the same outings and still continue to enjoy the surroundings.

This talk gives you a great opportunity to meet a professional gardener and estates manager and hear about his love of the gardens he manages.   Please take up this rare opportunity and come along!
