Newsletter - July 1st 2017

Our usual round up of village life as reported to the website. Following the successful Fete in June, things seem to be moving at a more leisurely pace as villagers prepare for their summer holidays.

I guess, however, it will not be too leisurely at the Tippling Philosopher on Monday 3rd July when a Morris dancing team perform there.

Throughout July, the Heritage museum at the cemetery chapel will be open during the afternoon with a series of exhibitions. You can read more about the work of the Heritage group on their pages of this website.

The WI review their activities and are planning for a meeting discussion the life of a Victorian London policeman at their meeting on 13th July. Of course, policing and the way of finding out about police matters has changed hugely in recent years and today, you can find out about local issues on line.

On 15th July, let us hope for good weather for the Church fete, which has all your favourite stalls and games to enjoy with cream teas and ice cream, not forgetting the grand prize draw.

The Friends of Milborne Port Library are busy preparing for the children’s’ summer reading challenge which will start in the middle of July with the hope of a record attendance by our village children.

The Milborne Port School will break up on 21st July for the summer. It has been a busy year at the school with the new roof for the pool, a successful Ofsted inspection and recently, the children have been involved with pupils of the Gryphon school in refurbishing the bus shelter at Crackmore.

The Parish Council continues its full and committee meetings on a biweekly basis, with minutes on the Council pages, supplemented by the “News from the Council Chamber” report.

As mentioned at the start, a short report this month, but if you think of other things that should be reported, please get in touch. Much of the creation of news articles and this newsletter is done by a very small group of people, often with one person taking the lead. This gives a certain vulnerability to absences. If you would like to help with this website, please contact the administrator in the first instance to discuss.

Do have a good summer and come back for more news from the website.
