Newsletter 16th January 2014

Not quite 12th night, but Saturday 4th January saw a hardy band of volunteers braving the rain to take down the Christmas trees and pack away the lights for another year. These trees and lights, organised by the Spirit of Milborne Port had for over a month brightened our high street.

The Spirit of Milborne Port is now busy planning the programme of events for 2014, and these are listed here. Please note that the date of the spring market has been moved to allow it to coincide with a craft fair being held on the 12th April. This will give villagers a greater range of stalls to browse through.

Although this is some way in the future, the craft fair has become a regular event at Church House, the next one being on the 8th February, and there is the by now regular car boot sale at the school, organised by the PTFA on the following day.

You can also read about the Friends of Milborne Port library and their ongoing battle to keep our library open. It is not all about this battle of course as you can also read about the exciting computer courses being organised by them.

It might seem that after Christmas, with few “special’ events on, and the awful weather we have been having recently, that the village has gone into hibernation. Nothing could, however, be further from the truth as a glance at our on line diary will confirm. There are upwards of 25 events per week going on in our village, from fitness and dance classes, opera rehearsals and the like, not to mention the more serious business of Parish council meetings and Church services. It is sometimes difficult keeping up with all that is going on, so if you note any mistakes or omissions, please get in touch.
