Newsletter 31st August 2018

As the summer winds down, the long hot days a thing of the past, for now at least and parents are thinking of their children’s return to school, it is time to look at what next month will bring for our village and its residents.

First though, the editor’s absence in the summer meant finding someone to manage the content of the website on an ad hoc basis and even with this help, the August newsletter was missed. A plea, therefore, for anyone who can help to manage the website content, to let the administrator know.

Good news was received from the Parish Council that it had received a donation from Canadian Solar following long months of negotiation with them. Other news of PC activities can be seen in the minutes of meetings or in their “News from the Council chamber” regular review.

Early Autumn sees the gearing up of the Milborne Port Opera for their new production. This year it is to be “Anything Goes”. They are always seeking new recruits so have a look at what they have to offer.

Summer sees the reading challenge for children. Friends of Milborne Port Library report on this and much more.

The WI have also had a busy summer with celebrations and visits. They are now looking forward to their September meeting entitled “behind closed doors” on 13th September.

The Heritage group meet on 17th of the month and have their last walk of the summer on the following day.

The regular WI coffee mornings continue of course and the one on the 21st will be their regular cake sale in support of Macmillan cancer support. On the same evening, Milborne Port Village Hall opens up their new season of Moviola screenings, starting with “The Guernsey literary and potato peel pie society”.

Finally, on 29th of the month, St. John’s Church will be open for a display of local craft talent in the Village.

If you know of more things in the village please let the website administrator know and if we have made errors, also let us know. We look forward to hearing from you.
