Newsletter - 21st December 2019

A shortened roundup this month as the Christmas festivities and family beckon your correspondent away from the keyboard.

The Church have a number of special services as ever at Christmas, starting with a carol service at 6pm on Sunday. On the eve of Christmas, there will be a short crib service at 4pm and the traditional midnight mass at 11:30pm.

Many of the groups round off the year by reporting on their pre Christmas festivities but also looking forward to the new year. The Friends of Milborne Port Library remind us of their opening times at the Jolly book bus and the gardening club also announce their programme for 2020. The WI will start the new year on 9th January with a talk on the gardens of WWI.

The Parish Council have reorganised their committee structure and this, together with the new vice chairman are discussed in their monthly newsletter.

Unfortunately, through oversight, it appears that there will be no Christmas tree collection place in Milborne Port, but many others are available. See https://www.southsomerset.gov.uk/treecycling

Moviola starts up again with a showing on 17th January at the Village Hall of “Knives Out”, starring Daniel Craig and Christopher Plummer.

The Heritage group will start their new year programme of talks on 20th January.

As ever, please do get in touch if you have anything to mention about village activities.
